    One of my favorite openers:

    The shocker. Say something totally outrageous that no one will agree with, and then spend the rest of the article telling why the position is defensible. Either that or spend the rest of the article twisting the shocker around so that it makes sense.

    That is a helpful idea starter list.
    It would be fun to do some statistical data on how many on the list are used by bloggers or vice versa!

    This is a great idea. I bet we all tend to use our favorites. The list is a good old standby for a blog post.

  5. These are all really great ways to kick of a bit of article- or blog-style writing. A few of these would even be good for conventional fiction- “Ask a question” and “Have you ever?” stand out as good possibilities.
