Merry Christmas From The Writers Cafe - Plus A Christmas Meme
There will be no official Writers Cafe for a few weeks. We resume at the Writers Cafe on Friday, January 11th. I also hope to return to regular blogging at Grow Your Writing Business in January too.
Thanks to all who have made 2006 such a wonderful blogging and writing year for me. I’ve loved the interaction at the Writers Cafe, and enjoyed sharing our journeys, ideas, challenges and successes.
As I’m in the land down under where it is steaming hot at Christmas, I thought you might enjoy my Home Biz Notes article on Christmas Day In Australia – Cultural Differences
While you’re cold, we’re sweltering in the heat at Christmas. LOL. Tell us about Christmas where you are? What will your Christmas day “look like.” Enjoy!
I leave you with this meme if you care to join in. Merry Christmas and all the best for a wonderful 2008.

The Kansas Curmudgeon tagged me with this Christmas meme. There are no wrong answers, so it’s pretty easy. Try it yourself if you like.
1. Wrapping or gift bags? Definitely wrapping. I love gift wrapping, ribbons and bows. I even used to make my own bows at one stage.
2. Real or artificial Tree? An artificial tree dusted with “snow” as a memory of a white Christmas we spent in the US. (I’m in Australia where real Christmas trees would wilt in the Summer heat at Christmas).
3. When do you put up the tree? Early December - or this year… tonight
4. When do you take down the tree? When we get around to it… January sometime.
5. Do you like egg nog? Never tasted it. It’s not big in Australia.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? A pink poodle that played music… Aaaargghhhhh! What was I thinking?
7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes
8. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Can’t remember, so it obviouslly didn’t do any lasting damage to my psyche.
9. Mail or email cards? Mail but remembering to send overseas ones early enough is a challenge
10. Favorite Christmas Movie? Two extremes - Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation and Love Actually
11. When do you start shopping for Christmas? A few weeks beforehand but I start thinking about it earlier
12. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Fresh sweet cherries and juicy mangoes (in season here at Christmas)
13. Clear or colored lights on the tree? Colored
14. Favorite Christmas song(s)? Christmas Carols especially sung by carollers
15. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Love to travel, but staying home this year
16. Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer? Some - not all
17. Angel on the top of the tree? We have a star on top of the tree
18. Open Christmas presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning? Christmas morning
19. Most annoying thing about this time of year? Not being able to find a parking spot for shopping
20. Do you decorate your tree in any specific theme? Decorations collected from our travels
21. What do you leave for Santa? Sorry Santa
22. Least favorites holiday song? I don’t feel strongly about any one song as I like the Christmas atmosphere
23. Favorite ornament? All the ornaments have an association of ideas, so they all bring back great memories
24. Family tradition? See 20
25. Ever been to midnight mass or late night Christmas services? Yes

Hi Yvonne, just wanted to say thanks for what you’ve put into the cafe over the last few months, and what a good place it’s been to make connections. We’ll look forward to it reopening in January
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I find it hard to imagine it being tree-wiltingly-hot where you are, it’s perishingly cold here, we’ve had about 4 days of non-stop frost. Pretty though - and it symbolises Christmas for me.
BTW I’ve resend you some e-mails - there was more than one - hope they get through okay this time.
Best wishes
Joanna
And Merry Christmas to you, Yvonne. Thanks for providing such a great hangout for writers. I look forward to dropping into the cafe again next year.

Joanna, Sharon & Genesis -
Thanks for your Christmas wishes. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and that you manage to have a break as well.
Yvonne, this entry is cool! It just helps us know you better. I’d love to give it a try… but I am so caught these days. I guess this year I will not even have a Xmas tree.
Merry Christmas Yvonne! Wishing you and your loved ones a beautiful Christmas. Take care.
Mig - Sounds like you are super busy. I hope your manage to have a well deserved relaxing break over Christmas.
Merry Christmas Rach. Have a wonderful time with your family.
Hi Yvonne,
I am a little late - wishing you a very merry Christmas, and I hope you will enjoy your new year celebrations too!!
My Christmas, for once in about five years, was spent at home with family and many many of nieces and nephews. Lots of toys and cheers and tears (from the kids) and above all, loves and joy
Looking forward to the re-opening of the Writer’s Cafe in January!
Amy
Hi, Yvonne,
Christmas tree dredged in white? My elder sister and I used to make foam from bath soaps and let the foam dry on the branches of a leafless tree so we could have a “snow” covered Christmas tree! I can still smell those fragrant branches!
Wishing you a blessed and prosperous New Year, Yvonne!
Princess
