Thanksgiving Weekend Writers Cafe - Celebrate Richness In Your Writing Life

Let’s take some time to share what we are thankful for writing wise, blogging wise and business wise.
Of course feel free to discuss anything writing, blogging or business related as well.
Questions to ask? Proposals or jobs to offer? Dilemmas to be solved? Milestones or progress to share? Want to share something you’ve learned? Do you have a useful link to pass on?
Feel free to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Pull up a chair and relax and let’s get chatting and networking.
Thanks To All

Hi Yvonne. We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here but I also love the thought behind this sweet occasion.
I think blogging is a wonderful thing. I’m excited each day to read the comments on both my sites. I love visiting my favorite blogs. Always eager to find out what’s new. It’s habit forming in a good way.
I’ve met many wonderful friends on-line and some of them I had the privilege of meeting in person.
Hi Rach
There’s a real camaraderie amongst bloggers. I’ve found them to be some of the most genuine people I know.
It would be cool to meet fellow bloggers in person. Have any of you actually had the chance to meet someone you’ve met through blogging in real life?
I think it would be amazing to go to a Bloggers Conference or Meet Up too.
Hi!
I’ll be wrapping up my first year of blogging at the end of next month. It’s definitely made my life richer. There are so many people I know now that I didn’t know a year ago. Blogging closes many gaps, one of those is distance.
Happy Thanksgiving All!
Wow! That’s a great milestone Laura. Congratulations.
I love the way you put it - “Blogging closes many gaps. One of those is distance” - beautifully said.
I have to agree with Laura, blogging allows you to form friendships anywhere in the world. Since I started my blog 9 months ago, I´ve met folks from Australia, England, the US, Chile and Dubai, among other places. As an expat with kids, I don´t have many friends here in Guatemala, so the opportunity to connect with other people via internet really has enriched my life.
Also, getting writing assignments on such a wide variety of topics has taught me a lot of new things. I know stuff about topics I never would have thought to research on my own! That´s something I enjoy about the writing life.
Genesis
For those of us who love to write and love to learn, researching for new articles is definitely interesting… including the many tangents and new sites to discover. I love that aspect of writing and blogging too.
When it comes to it though, it’s the people connections and interactions that are the most rewarding.
Hi, Yvonne!
While it’s wonderful to have the freedom of expression that blogging brings, and as Genesis states, it’s great to have the opportunity to learn so much through article-related research, I also agree with everyone who’s commented so far that the very best part of blogging has been connecting with so many wonderful people online! It has indeed been such a rich experience!
Thanks for making your blog a place where all may feel welcome and comfortable sharing constructive and edifying thoughts about writing and the writing business!
Laura,
I had no idea that you started blogging only about a month before I did! Who would have ever guessed! Congratulations on your imminent first blogging anniversary! Like Yvonne’s, your blog has always provided a friendly, welcoming place for writers to visit and share.
Yvonne and Laura,
It’s been a privilege knowing both of you! Happy Thanksgiving (or happy giving-of-thanks day!)
And Happy Thanksgiving to all your readers!
Blessings,
Jeanne
I have to agree with others that the online friendships I have made have been one of the best features of my writing career - and I’m thankful for them every day.
I have to echo the sentiment that online friendships have been the best part of blogging. When I started my blog, I expected it to be a monologue. What a lovely surprise when it turned into a conversation.
Hi Sharon, Jeanne & Lillie - This seems to be a common theme. Yes conversations are much more rewarding than monologues.
Some of the neatest aspects of blogging are all the great people it brings you in contact with around the globe, the people you get to work with you never would have met otherwise and the friendships you develop.
Thanks for mentioning Home Biz Notes on your list, Yvonne. For those who don’t know, Yvonne is my co-blogger there. If it wasn’t for the Internet and the blogosphere, I never would have met her nor get to blog with her.
Aw shucks, Mary Emma… thanks.
Blogging at Home Biz Notes with you has been fun.
Hi everyone
I’ve loved reading this thread
Friendship, connections, camaraderie, making the world a little bit smaller, a little bit more human - yes, definitely, all of those.
I’ve talked to a few bloggers on the phone (or on Skype) and that adds a new dimension to the relationship - I’d love to meet some bloggers too. On my wish list for 2008 for sure.
Joanna
It’s been a great year with more still to come, Yvonne! Thanks for letting me be a part of something grand!
Cheers to all, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Joanna - Interesting to hear your perspective that talking to bloggers you’ve met online has added a new dimension.
That’s one of the reasons I’m keen to try Skype. I have it installed. Now I have to actually try it out.
Hope you get to meet some of your blogger phone buddies in person, Joanna.
Robert
This connecting with others is indeed rather grand. Your group writing projects at Middle Zone Musings have certainly connected a lot of people too.
Thanks for your support and kind words.
I´ve used Skype to meet a couple of other bloggers. You can also use Windows Live Messenger to talk to people, that´s actually the one I use most with my sisters, who still live in Canada.
To tell the truth, I can´t imagine how expats got along without blogging and chatting! Years ago . . . they would have been so incredibly cut off from any friends or family! While not exclusively limited to the writing world, I have to say that internet is truly a great invention!
Genesis - Imagine in the days when people migrated to another country and communication, usually letters, had to come by boat.
I agree the internet is a great way to stay in touch.
Hello Yvonne, I just arrived back from a trip away with family. I’m so thankful for them.
In the same way, I’m very thankful for folks who helped give me some pushes along the way as I began to blog.
It’s such a privilege to “pay it forward” and see you both enjoying your blog and finding the rewards. Keep up the good work!
Hi Yvonne,
We don’t celebrate thanksgiving in Germany either, but the “concept” is all worth. Thank you for the honorable mention and thank you for being my friend. It’s wonderful to “grow” together.
Mig
Thank you Yvonne for sharing your inspirational writing with us always.
Robyn - Thanks for your kind words. I love your blog, so I’m honored that you visit here.
Mig - Thank you too, Mig. I’m so pleased we’re on this journey together.
Toni - Great to see you here and for your kind words.
Hi Yvonne, thank you so much for placing me on such a great list! We don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving here, but I still have a lot to be thankful for. Thank you for reminding me of what I should be treasuring
