Jump Start Your Business - $2000 in Prizes & a Lesson in Blog Marketing

jump start your business b5 media contest

Do you want to take the fast track to growing your writing business? Of course, hard work is alway an option ;) - but a little helping hand with money, prizes and free business consulting advice, never goes astray.

It’s Raining Prizes in the Blogosphere

If you are a blogger, this week it’s raining prizes. As if $4000 worth of prizes isn’t enough to tempt you, Mary Emma Allen of Home Biz Notes has tipped me off to another major contest.

b5 media’s Business Channel is offering $2000 worth of prizes in the Jump Start Your Business Contest - perfect for a writing business. You need to submit a mini business plan for a new business, or a business you’d like to (plan to) start. Closing Date is September 25th, 2007. The prizes I’d like to win are the one on one consulting, marketing and business advice sessions with a range of experts. These range from SEO to tax, to home business.

Blog Marketing Lessons Blog Contests Can Teach Us

The bar has been set very high in the blog marketing stakes with these significant prizes. Laura and I offered our own humble $30 Amazon Gift Voucher prize, for our Shared Answers Group Writing Project, and found the prize was definitely a drawcard… and added a fun element too. When you study all the prizes in these contests, you’ll note that they are all donated. This type of collaborative marketing is a great fit for blogging, built as it is, on networking and links.

When you study David Airey’s $4000 prize draw rules, note that the more you help him and his sponsors, the more tickets you get in the random prize draw. You may have linked to him, subscribed to his RSS feed, linked to his sponsors, each giving you more tickets. It’s a win win situation. This is savvy blog marketing at its best.
