Whistle While You Write - Seven Songs Meme
Whistle While You Write - Seven Songs Meme

A change of pace today just for fun… I often have music playing while I’m writing. Rachel tagged me to share seven songs I enjoy. It’s hard to identify just seven favourite songs, as it depends on my mood. I’m fickle like that.
Music to Write By
I love so many songs for different reasons. I’ve chosen seven songs that mean something to me, because they are associated with special events or great memories. I’ve listed them in no particular order.
They all seem to be from way back, so I must be feeling in a nostalgic mood today. If I was in a frivolous party mood, they might all be different choices.
1. Waltzing Matilda - Yes, I’m an Aussie and we want Michael Jackson to give us back the rights he holds to this song, as it’s part of our heritage, and our unofficial national song.
2. Imagine - John Lennon - a universal song for peace and understanding. I visited the Imagine memorial in Central Park, a symbol of peace. People still leave flowers there.
3. Streets of London - Ralph McTell. I’ve seen him perform this live and the whole audience joined in… very moving. This reminds me of times in London.
4. Song of Joy (Beethoven) - This was played at our wedding, and my husband also played it at our eldest son’s christening.
5. Your Song - Elton John - This is fresh in my mind as I recently saw Elton John perform live in a 2 hour indoor concert. He got the whole crowd to join him in singing “Crocodile Rock”. That was fun.
6. Amazing Grace - very moving and soulful with the haunting sound of the bagpipes.
7. I Still Call Australia Home - just because I recently saw Hugh Jackman perform in The Boy From Oz - the best show I’ve seen so far. Hugh was fantastic, and the “I Go to Rio” finale was spectacular… a real party atmosphere.
Do You Listen to Music While You Write?
I’m not tagging anyone, but if you want to share what you listen to while you work (or play), please let us know. Or do you prefer quiet when you write?

This was a fun way to get to know you better, Yvonne. Amazing Grace is a favorite of my husband’s family…played and sun in times of joy as well as sadness. I guess it gives us strength and bonds the family and generations together. The children think of it as an “Allen Family Song” as do the adults.
Isn’t it interesting how we associate songs with people, places or special events and memories. Amazing Grace is such a stirring and powerful song. I think it’s a great family choice and I bet you have lots of shared memories around that song.
I like it quiet when I am working, but with two tiny kids, that doesn´t happen a lot. Mostly I listen to Hi5 and Barney songs while typing.
Hi Genesis - Hi5 and Barney… LOL. I know what you mean about the absence of quiet time with little ones around. Some of those tunes are catchy though. How about the Wiggles?
hello.this is constructicle boy and i have added you to the train under this link,http://constructicle.blogspot.com/2007/06/double-whammy-to-increase-alexa-ranking.html
What a fun meme! I’m one who likes quiet, but doesn’t always get it. I do love almost every version of Amazing Grace that I hear. It seems I can never get tired of it.
Hi Yvonne. Thanks for taking time to do this meme. I appreciate it. Thanks for sharing these beautiful songs and the meaningful reason behind each one.
I sometimes like listening to music when I’m writing because a lovely song can often bring inspiration.
Have a lovely weekend.
Hi Rach - It was fun thinking about different songs and the associated memories.
cool choices… But I must say I can’t really write, at least not seriously write, while I listen to music. I find it too distracting. By seriously write… what do I mean? Actually I’m not sure. But no, this isn’t too serious. I’m listening to M. Ward now. Ever heard him? He’s quite good.
