Simply Successful Secrets from Grow Your Writing Business

What is Success?
Success is such a broad notion, with so many aspects, mindsets and definitions. Here is a broad brushstroke look at what I aim for, often imperfectly. These are listed in no particular order.
Simply Successful Secrets
1. Be true to yourself. Be sincere. Follow your passion. Follow your dreams.
2. Be organised. Set yourself goals. Have a level of routine and structure that works for you.
3. Surround yourself with positive, “can do” people. Keep learning. Keep doing.
4. Care about yourself and others. Loved ones matter. People matter. You matter.
5. Talk to others, and be open to new perspectives, information, ideas and opportunities.
6. Keep your sense of humour. Be persistent. Be flexible. Be resilient. Keep things in perspective.
7. See the potential in yourself and others. Inspire others and be inspired.
8. Enjoy the little things. Work out who and what is important to you in life.
9. Be innovative, creative and generous of spirit. Do something crazy once in a while. Laugh a lot.
10. Don’t limit yourself. Stretch yourself. Try new things. Be a risk taker.
11. Know when to speak up. Know when to back off. Know when to keep quiet. Listen a lot.
12. Never regret the things you’ve done - only the things you haven’t tried. Go for it!
Back Up Plan
And, just in case all else fails, keep plenty of chocolate on hand.

Tag Time
I’m tagging some recent visitors to Grow Your Writing Business.

Laura at Writing Thoughts tagged me for this meme. The originator, Aaron Potts at Today is the Day will compile a master list, under broad headings. This will be interesting, as with everything from writing blogs, to gardening blogs to tech blogs and more, my prediction is there will still be some strong common themes.

Great meme! I even liked the part about keeping plenty of chocolate on hand.
LOL. Chocolate is always a good fallback position.
Yvonne
Yvonne, thank you very much for calling my entry “great”. And to think I was trying to keep it modest…
I like very much your list. You make a great motivational speaker.
PS: may I replace chocolate with pickles?
Hi Mihaela
Thanks for your kind words. Yes, feel free to substitute your choice of anything at all for chocolate.
Yvonne
Well, I find myself in a bit of a jam here… I like pickles AND chocolate!
Yvonne - you have a great way of saying a lot, but in very few words. I’m sure some of the visitors to my blog would appreciate it if I figured out that little trick…
If you write like you talk and/or think, then I have no doubt that you have more opportunities for growth and success than you actually have time for. That, of course, is a good thing!
Thank you so much for participating and for your awesome pile of success habits. Many can learn from your words, Yvonne.
And, if not, then they can always default to…
Choco-Pickles!! ;)~
Hi Aaron
Thanks for visiting, and for your positive feedback. I look forward to seeing your collated list… a great idea!
Choco-Pickes… hmmm….. I think you may have just invented a new food group.
Yvonne
Thanks for sharing these motivating things. They surely inspire a person to aspire more and have better lives. Take care!
Hi Rach
Thanks for stopping by. The collated list from all over the blogosphere will be very interesting.
Yvonne
I haven’t forgot you, I’ve just been swamped this week. I’m planning on tackling this early next week.
Hi Michelle
No rush… whenever you’re ready. I look forward to seeing your Simply Successful Secrets post.
Yvonne
